Rafinha Breaks Down What Went Behind his First Career Assist With PSG

In his first career game with Paris Saint-Germain against Nimes Olympique, midfielder Rafinha provided a promising performance for the club. He created multiple goal-scoring chances and topped off his performance with an assist to forward Kylian Mbappe. He did well to leave an impact on the pitch before being subbed off in the second half.

The Brazilian midfielder reflected on his debut performance with the club to PSG TV. He broke down just what went behind the entire sequence in which he picked up his first assist for the club.

“I remember when Navas got the ball he played fast on the counterattack,” Rafinha said. “When I saw Kylian in front of me, I was alone. I knew I had to pass in front of their defense and knowing that Mbappe was positioned to my left, with his speed I told myself that he would be able to have the ball before the goalkeeper.

“So when I saw the space, I didn’t hesitate to give him the ball, since he goes very, very fast.”

Considering that it was his first official fixture in months, Rafinha certainly met expectations and showed what he can provide to the coaching staff as a midfielder. PSG sure hopes that he can continue to create key goal-scoring sequences for the club. He has the prowess to send in line-splitting passes to teammates while in the final third, and he can become a game-changer in fixtures within seconds.
