PSG Owns Record for Most Penalties Conceded in the Champions League Since 2012

Paris Saint-Germain extended a record on Tuesday during its UEFA Champions League group stage fixture against Manchester United. Bruno Fernandes’ penalty attempt against PSG was the 18th such allowed by the club in the Champions League since the 2012/2013 edition of the competition. Overall, PSG has allowed 13 penalty goals over this time period.

PSG just has continued to be on the wrong end of penalty kicks. For instance, the club allowed crucial penalty kicks to FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in Champions League knockout stage fixtures over the years, which ended costing the team in those fixtures. PSG famously allowed one to Manchester United in 2019 that turned out to be the one that knocked out the club in the round of 16 stage.

PSG is certainly due for a penalty call that goes in its favor in a pivotal Champions League fixture. For one, the club has reliable penalty kick takers that it could call on in key situations, from Neymar to Angel Di Maria.
