Arsenal appear to have been vindicated over their decision to not sign Layvin Kurzawa, who was part of a poor Paris Saint-Germain performance in the Champions League last night.
The French champions were in action against Manchester United at the Parc des Princes for their first group stage match, but produced an uninspiring display with the Red Devils winning 2-1.
For Arsenal fans, the performance of Kurzawa was always going to be a point of interest.
The Gunners have been linked with the Frenchman several times recently, with Sport reporting in May that Kurzawa actually wanted a move to the Emirates.
He eventually signed a new four-year deal and did not leave on a free transfer as was being anticipated at one point.
And there he was turning out for Paris against United last night – and it was far from a convincing display.
The 28-year-old struggled against the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Anthony Martial, and his performance drew criticism on social media.
TBR’s View – Arsenal will be glad they never moved
Currently, Arsenal are in a strong position when it comes to the left side of their defence.
Kieran Tierney has proven a wonderful signing for the Gunners, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka have also shown they can operate as left wing-backs.
One wonders how close – if at all, Arsenal came to actually signing Kurzawa, but on the basis of last night, Mikel Arteta’s squad is perfectly fine without him.
