Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Scott McTominay after he "played with one eye" in Manchester United's impressive 2-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Scotland international formed an impressive midfield pairing with Fred as United pressed and harried PSG all night, eventually taking the lead in the first half when Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot.

Fernandes saw his first kick - awarded after a foul on Anthony Martial - saved by home goalkeeper Keylor Navas, but he slotted home a retake after VAR had found Navas to be off his line.

Martial unfortunately put through his own net in the second half for the equaliser, but with impressive defensive displays from the likes of Axel Tuanzebe and Aaron Wan-Bissaka frustrating Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, United won the game late on through a fine effort from Marcus Rashford.

Solskjaer heaped praise on his midfield after the game, specifically Fred and McTominay, who had an issue to overcome in the first half.

"They're in good form now," the United boss told reporters.

"They're good players and played really well against Newcastle, they laid the foundation for the win in that game and laid the foundation for today as well.

"Scotty played the first-half with one eye as well, that was the most impressive thing, because he lost his contact lens. That was impressive."

The Norwegian also went on to praise his defenders, with Tuanzebe, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw starting as a back three in the absence of the injured Harry maguire.

"Victor and Axel are our central defenders and played tremendous, but Luke Shaw, normally a full-back, defended really well as a side centre-back," he added.

"I've got no issues at all [in defence]. I'm very happy with my players.
