Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's love affair with Paris continued - thanks once again to match-winner Marcus Rashford.

The city of love will always have a special place in Solskjaer's heart, having played host to the unforgettable victory that earned him the Manchester United job full-time.

On that occasion it was Rashford whose dramatic late penalty sealed an historic win for United - and the forward was their hero again last night with a stunning late winner.

Off the pitch Rashford can do no wrong, with his relentless work to help end child poverty in the UK, and on it he is proving equally formidable, delivering for his team when it counts.

Wearing their much-mocked zebra-style away kit, every one of United's players earned their stripes and produced a performance that showed their confidence in under-fire boss Solskjaer.

Just when United's mature display did not look like yielding the victory it deserved, Rashford stepped up to produce a clinical finish in the 87th-minute to ensure another famous win.

United were in command, leading 1-0 through a Bruno Fernandes first-half penalty, until Anthony Martial's own goal handed the hosts a route back into the game their performance did not merit.

But this phenomenal display, which made United's woeful start to the domestic season seem like a trick of the mind, got the ending it deserved with Rashford's latest heroic exploits.

Just as in 2019, when he had most of his first-choice team unavailable, Solskajer was missing key personnel, with skipper Harry Maguire and Mason Greenwood among those missing.

But Solskjaer's selection calls and tactics were spot on, while his players stepped up when it mattered to deliver a result that should be a springboard for a season of huge promise.

David De Gea showed his enduring class with a series of world-class saves, Aaron Wan-Bissaka shackled Kylian Mbappe, Axel Tuanzebe excelled on his first appearance for 10 months, while new signing Alex Telles looked assured on his debut.

United absorbed early pressure from the French champions and were handed a chance to take the lead in the 21 minute when Martial was brought down.

Fermandes missed from the spot, just as he did against Newcastle at the weekend, but was handed a reprieve after PSG keeper Keylor Navas came off his line early.

Stand-in-skipper Fernandes atoned for his miss by rolling in the retaken spot-kick to put United ahead, with PSG strangely subdued, their famed front three of Mbappe, Neymar and Angel Di Maria posing little threat.

When they did threaten, United were able to handle the danger, never more so than the 35 minute when Tuanzebe executed a perfectly-timed challenge to thwart Mbappe, who was in full flow.

United held the lead at the break, De Gea producing another fine save two minutes after the restart to deny Mbappe, as PSG upped the tempo.

That greater urgency was rewarded in the 55 minute when Martial headed a Neymar corner into his own net, leaving De Gea no chance.

It looked as though United were to be denied the win they deserved, until Rashford picked up the ball and unleashed an unstoppable angled shot to seal another seismic win for the Reds.
