Manchester United emerged from their opening Champions League group-phase fixture with a win after beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 in the French capital.

Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead from the spot in the first half. Anthony Martial's own-goal after the break pulled the hosts level before Marcus Rashford scored a late winner.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made three changes to the team that beat Newcastle on Saturday, with Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial coming in for Harry Maguire, Juan Mata and Daniel James.

United were awarded a penalty when Martial was felled in the box and Fernandes converted at the second time of asking, with the officials ordering a retake after the Portuguese's first effort was saved by the encroaching Keylor Navas.

United had the better of the first half but PSG grew into the game in the second. Martial's own-goal made it 1-1 but Rashford won it for United in Paris again.

United player ratings: Axel Tuanzebe and Aaron Wan-Bissaka brilliant

David de Gea

Made a good save from Layvin Kurzawa and came out to thwart Angel di Maria. Pulled off a great stop from Kylian Mbappe. 9

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Not as adventurous as he was at Newcastle, which was understandable with Mbappe roaming down the left-hand channel. Executed some fine tackles. 9

Victor Lindelof

Defended with authority as the most senior centre half in the back three. Positioned himself well to clear the ball expertly. 8

Axel Tuanzebe

Will have grown a foot taller after he challenged Mbappe in a tight duel inside the area. Fantastic return on his first appearance in 10 months. 9

Luke Shaw

Settled well back into the defensive trident and played the ball into Anthony Martial to earn the penalty. Brought the ball out of defence to spark attacks. 7

Formation change for United

It looks like a switch to 4-4-2 with a diamond in midfield as Paul Pogba comes on for Alex Telles. A solid debut from the Brazilian, but now a perfect platform for Pogba to show why he should be starting games like this.

Wan-Bissaka superb

The last time United faced PSG they started with Eric Bailly at right-back before he was hooked for an atrocious display. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is an easy target for his tame attacking threat, but there are few in world football as good as him defensively

Martial heads over

Two chances from the corner as McTominay meets Telles' corner.

The resulting cross finds Martial but he heads over at the right end this time.

United need to settle

Wan-Bissaka has been brilliant to watch this half and almost all of it has been spent in his own area. He is backing himself big time against Mbappe and you can see why.

United need to settle down but there isn’t an obvious change. Fred and McTominay are still doing well and Fernandes can do something out of nothing.

That’s twice now Rashford has cocked up big chances.
