The Champions League is back and all four Premier League sides are in action this week.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are England’s four representatives in Europe’s premier competition this season and face Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax, Sevilla and Porto respectively on matchday one.

Michael Owen, the former Liverpoool and Manchester United striker, has given his predictions for how they will fare.

On Tuesday night, United face the daunting task of facing PSG – runners-up in last season’s Champions League.

And Owen thinks PSG will get the better of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s outfit.

Manchester United flattered to deceive with their 4-1 win at Newcastle on Saturday night,’ Owen told Bet Victor.

‘However, they face a much tougher test in Paris. With the likes of Neymar and [Kylian] Mbappe, I think they may have too much for United. I reckon last year’s finalists will come out on top with both sides scoring.’

On the same evening, Chelsea take on Europa League champions Sevilla and Owen expects Frank Lampard’s men to pick up three points.

Chelsea come into this one having surrendered a 2 goal lead to draw 3-3 with Southampton,’ added Owen.

‘This was the second time the Blues have drawn 3-3 this season and I’m expecting goals to be on the menu again here. Sevilla lost out to Granada at the weekend, so it’s fair to say both need a result.

‘Timo Werner finally found the net on Saturday, and if he’s in the mood again, I could see Chelsea edging it.’

On Wednesday night, Manchester City welcome Porto to the Etihad and Owen is expecting a comfortable 3-0 win for the home side.

Manchester City come into this after seeing off Arsenal at the weekend,’ said Owen.

‘The Citizens have high hopes of winning their elusive first Champions League trophy and will be aiming for no less than maximum points here.

Michael Owen Champions League predictions

PSG 2-1 Man Utd
Chelsea 2-1 Sevilla
Man City 3-0 Porto
Ajax 1-2 Liverpool

‘Porto may have improved over the close season, but I can’t see anything other than a win for City.’

Two of Europe’s most decorated sides meet in Amsterdam on Wednesday, with six-time champions Liverpool travelling to four-time winners Ajax.

‘It’s a clash between two Champions League heavyweights when Ajax entertain Liverpool in Amsterdam,’ said Owen.

‘This should be a cracker. Liverpool were unlucky not to snatch the points on Saturday, and although I think it will be close, I can see the Reds having too much firepower for the home side.’
