Manchester United returned to domestic action after the international break with a vital 4-1 win at Newcastle.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were bidding to erase the memories of their 6-1 home defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford, and made the perfect statement by coming back from a goal down to pick up all three points.

Goals from captain Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford sealed the victory and made it perfect preparation for their Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

The Red Devils travel to last season's runners-up for the first game of their group stage campaign, but Solskjaer will be without several of his first team stars.

United host Chelsea this weekend, so the Norwegian will be desperate to have those players back in the squad.

Here is the latest Manchester United injury news.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire misses the trip to Paris with a small muscle tear sustained at St James' Park.

Maguire wrote on Instagram: "Disappointed to miss tomorrow’s game through injury… I’ll be working hard to get back fit ASAP. The start of our #ChampionsLeague campaign. #MUFC"

Solskjaer is also hopeful that Maguire will be fit again to take on the Blues.

"Hopefully Harry [Maguire], Eric [Bailly]and Mason [Greenwood] as well, but not sure about that.

"We hope Harry will be fit for the weekend, we’re not sure but we hope so."

Edinson Cavani

The United deadline day signing did not travel to France with his teammates, with Solskjaer admitting that the Uruguayan needs more training before he can be considered.

"We hope the players won’t be away for too long. Edinson [Cavani] needs a few more days training before we can maybe think about the weekend," the United boss said.

Mason Greenwood

Greenwood missed the Newcastle game and has not travelled to Paris for the Champions League clash.

"I can’t declare medical stuff, can I?" Solskjaer said before the game. "We hope it’s just a niggle and we don’t want to take any chances with him and hopefully at the weekend it’ll be fine again."
