Video: Thomas Tuchel Doesn’t Place Adding Left-Back as a Priority

As Paris Saint-Germain prepares to take on OGC Nice, manager Thomas Tuchel spoke with the media where he answered a question on replacing players who have left, are suspended, or out because of injury.

Tuchel discussed the challenge of maneuvering through this challenging start, but he did lay out the positions he wants to see strengthened before the transfer window closes.

However, the 47-year-old did say that left-back isn’t a position that needs addressing despite the ACL injury to Juan Bernat.

“Yes, it’s still the challenge and the objective is to have a group ready to start the championship. The priorities are clear with a striker and a central defender or a midfielder. We have to replace the players we lost. That’s the challenge, I don’t know if it’s possible. The team is smaller,” Tuchel said. It is the risk of entering a circle of injury and fatigue. It’s also my job to find solutions, I have confidence in the players who will be there tomorrow.

“Juan’s injury is very serious because he is a key player and experienced. He made extraordinary performances in the Champions League and in Ligue 1. At the same time, we have Layvin Kurzawa, who is suspended, Mitchel Bakker and Abdou Diallo, it is not the priority to buy a player for this position- the. I am not a physiotherapist or doctor, but for me, Juan Bernat will be away for 6 months.”
