Report: Bernat Set for Surgery Next Week on his Left Knee

Paris Saint-Germain defender Juan Bernat’s road to recovery following his ACL injury is slated to begin next week. Bernat is set for reconstruction surgery next week on his left knee, the club announced on its official website.

Bernat suffered the ACL injury on his left knee during Wednesday’s home league fixture against Metz. The club was surely hoping that the injury was not a long-term, serious one, but it turned out to be just that.

There has been no official word as to how long Bernat will be out of action. The club would at the least hope that he can be back in time for the stretch run of the season in the spring. After his UEFA Champions League knockout stage showings from last season, the club sure would like to see him repeat those performances for the next year’s run as well.

Bernat is set to become a free agent after this season, so his recovery process will be critical as he seeks a contract deal from PSG or any interested club for next season.
