Top Manchester City transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly is eyeing a switch to Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.

After their defensive frailties played a major factor in them losing their Premier League title last season, City are working hard on strengthening their back-line this summer.

The versatile Nathan Ake has already been signed from relegated Bournemouth but the club also want to bring in another top quality centre-back before the window closes on October 5.

It's understood that Napoli's Koulibaly is the club's priority target, but the transfer saga has rumbled on all summer with a deal no closer to coming to fruition.

Relations between the two clubs are frosty following the collapsed deal to sign Jorginho two seasons ago and the Blues have been willing to wait for club president Aurelio di Laurentiis to lower his asking price.

However, according to Italian outlet Il Mattino, Di Laurentiis is remaining adamant that the Senegal international won't leave Naples unless the club's valuation is met, which has rendered the efforts of Fali Ramadani, Koulibaly's agent, to get the transfer completed 'futile.'

The report also adds that Koulibaly is now 'dreaming' of a move to French champions PSG, who have their eye on a new centre-back following the departure of Thiago Silva, instead - though it's claimed the Parisians have also not offered a satisfactory sum to Napoli either.

Meanwhile, City new boy Yan Couto could be heading out to sister club Girona on loan, if reports in Spain are to be believed.

Couto, 18, only arrived at the club this summer, and spoke about having the opportunity to impress Pep Guardiola in pre-season training.

Now, though, Diari de Girona say Couto will get the chance to develop at Girona, with City aware his first team chances this season will be limited.
